I forgot to mention the big news about Trenton. We had our third visit to a third dentist last week. Let me start at the beginning. Trenton had his first dental visit probably about 8 months ago and they forced him to clean his teeth, which he hated and they also found 4 minor cavities on all 4 of his molars (baby teeth). They didn't do much except give me flouride tablets and told me to reinforce brushing and flossing. Well while there, the hygentist told me that it was my fault that my son had this problem and it my responsibility to take things away from him that are going to cause these problems. She called me a bad mother in the process. So, we left there and I made their 6 month follow-up with another dentist. Well within the 8 months, his cavities had gotten worse. He has come a long way with brushing his teeth and does it everyday at home and at school, but once things like this start there's not much you can do. So the 2nd dentist referred us to a Pediatric Dentist to look at the cavities and see what the best course was. So last week, we went and the outcome was not what I expected. On Feb 22, Trenton will get admitted to a hospital and they will surgically do his cleaning, fillings and one stainless steele cap. They are going to put him completely out, probaly for about 2 hours and then keep him there probably until early evening. The good news is that his adult teeth are not affected right now and that's what we are trying to eliminate. The trauma of oral sedation and regular numbing and hearing the drill is what they are trying to eliminate. The Dr actually doesn't think he will even be able to handle it. So, I was a little shocked and shaken up, but it's what is best and everything will be fine. He doesn't seem to be in any pain and I have talked to him about the OR visit and I'll keep talking to him about it, trying to make a positive thing. Luckily, Terry will be home and we will both be there with him.
